I bought a round-trip train ticket and a public transport pass, grabbed my Lonely Planet book, and went on a day-long adventure to Berlin by myself.
(Mom, ignore that last part.)
the train station—like the city—was impressive, inside…
…and out
I saw tons of stuff: the Reichstag (parliament building)
…and an old photo of the Reichstag, in the history museum
the Brandenburger Tor (gate), which Napoleon passed through…
and where Hitler’s supporters celebrated his appointment as chancellor
I also saw the new American embassy building (with guards standing outside)
…and lots of other stuff. More later!
